Young Engineers

Our Young Engineers have regular training sessions in engineering as well learning about all aspects of running the ride on railway.  This includes running the station, signal box, guarding and, of course, driving and looking after the engines.

The training is recognised by the 7¼ Society at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and the Young Engineers are proud to receive their certificates.
All Young Engineers keep a portfolio of the training they receive and the work they do.  This should help them get recognition when they later look for employment, and most schools also like to add the achievements to their records.

Some of the recent training carried out with the Young Engineers.

May 2018 – Soldering, Brazing and Welding

October 2018 – Midlands Model Engineeering Exhibition – Young Engineers Competition

February 2020 – Northern Assocation of Model Engineers

The number of young engineers is limited but young persons (12 to 18 years old) may apply to join our young engineers.

When young engineers are on-site it is required that a parent or guardian chaperone also remains on site.”
